So my job had the coolest field trip today to The Museum of Contemporary Art to see the Takashi Murakami exhibit. Super fun! They had buses to and from the museum along with a light dinner, beer and soda on board. Snazzy eh? And this guy's stuff is so interesting (and a touch bizarre). Look at some of this stuff.

And I killed another bird with this trip. I can cross MOCA off my tourist to do list. One thing I really liked about the exhibit was the way we could dial a number and listen to an audio tour of some of the pieces. I mean you waste cell phone minutes but you could do it anywhere. I liked it.
These two were my favorites even though they're a bit naughty. On the left is My Lonesome Cowboy (the one I saw had yellow hair) and on the right is Hiporon. They were two paintings with it called Milk and Cream. The Cream one is behind My Lonesome Cowboy.

The Grove
Farmer's Market
Ok not much of an update from my original Tourist post but an update nevertheless! I'd already crossed off the whole Hollywood and Highland, Chinese Grauman's theatre, Kodak theater off the list but now we can cross The Grove / Farmer's Market off of the list as well. I must say that I am a bit surprised at the Farmer's Market in The Grove. I was expecting this massive open air market with tons of fresh fruits and vegetables and homemade pies and fresh cheeses etc. There were one or two fruits and veg stands but mostly there were a bunch of food places and stores in established little buildings. The Grove was cool. The day was a bit gray and rainy towards the end so I'll have to go back when I have more time and stroll about. But just once more - parking and traffic was a BITCH!!!
I'll update with pictures as soon as I recharge the battery.
I totally have to act like a tourist while I'm living here in LA or I'll never see or do anything while I'm here. A friend of a friend gave me a whole list of things to do and places to eat etc and I'm going to try and do them all while I live here. Though some of them I've already done. Naturally I'll be adding more to the list as they come up!
